ww2dbaseThe shipbuilder Elsflether Werft AG was founded by engineer Franz Peuss in 1916. and construction began shortly after. By 1918, repairing operations had begun, and the company's first fishing vessel was built. Shipyard construction was fully completed in 1920, and the first ship completed after the full completion was a motor launch. During WW2, Elsflether's priorities were to modify fishing vessels into patrol boats and to build new minesweepers for the German Navy. Additional construction for the navy, of a lesser degree, was the building of general purpose boats and tenders. After the war, it remained in operations building vessels for the civilian community, including container ships, merchant vessels, tankers, drilling-platform supply ships, hospital, and passenger ships. Elsflether remains in operations at the time of this writing in 2019.
