It consisted of 180 buildings that held up to about 3,000 prisoners; the camp ran near this capacity for most of the war. The camp ceased operations in Sep 1945.

30 Aug 1943 Camp Tonkawa in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, United States began operations.
4 Nov 1943 Johannes Kunze, a prisoner at Camp Tonkawa in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, United States, was discovered by fellow prisoners to be a spy working for the American guards. Kunze was beaten to death. Prisoner Walter Beyer would later be found guilty for the murder and would be executed by hanging in Leavenworth, Kansas, United States.
10 Jul 1945 Walter Beyer, a German prisoner of war, was executed by hanging in Leavenworth, Kansas, United States for the murder of fellow prisoner (and a spy for the guards at Camp Tonkawa in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, United States) in Nov 1943.
1 Sep 1945 Camp Tonkawa in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, United States ceased operations.
