ww2dbaseThe Model 35 grenades made by Breda had ribbed bodies and were painted red. On impact, the fuses detonated the 2 ounce of TNT found in each of the grenades. The fuses were known to be defective on a regular basis, but by picking up the duds, sometimes the fuses would suddenly function, leading to this grenades' nickname as "Red Devils"; this nickname would later be applied to other models of Italian grenades.Source: Ian Hogg, The Encyclopedia of Infantry Weapons of World War II ww2dbase

Famous WW2 Quote
"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."Winston Churchill
