ww2dbaseThe Coventry four wheel drive armored cars were developed to replace the Humber and Daimler predecessor designs. The Mark 1 variant design had a 40-millimeter 2-pounder gun in the turret while the Mark 2 variant design had a 75-millimeter gun in the turret. Production began in Jun 1944, and they entered service later that year; 63 were built in 1944, and 220 were built in 1945. None of them served on the front lines during WW2 as they were deployed to their units only months before the end of the European War. Some of them saw subsequent actions, however, such as the war against the Viet Minh rebellion in the 1950s, with them operated under the French banner.
