Ternasky flying from USS Lexington (Essex-class), Kwajalein, Marshall Islands, 4 Dec 1943Mark XIII torpedo with a practice warhead and fitted with a tail ring, Newport, Rhode Island, United States, 1944. The tail ring modification was the final alteration that made this a truly dependable weapon.
