ww2dbasePrince Hironobu of the Fushimi branch of the Japanese Imperial family was born to Prince Hiroyasu in 1905. His older brother Prince Hirotada, the head of the Kacho branch of the Imperial family, passed away at the young age of 22 in 1924, thus Prince Hironobu was made the head of Kacho; later, however, Prince Hironobu returned to Fushimi, thus allowing Kacho to become extinct. In 1925, he graduated from the Japanese Navy Academy and served his midshipman tour on armored cruiser Iwate. He subsequently served aboard battleship Yamashiro, cruiser Atago in 1932, destroyer Akebono, and destroyer Sazanami. In 1935, he served one session in the House of Peers in the Diet of Japan. In 1937, he graduated from the Naval War College. In Oct 1939, he was made an instructor in the Naval War College, and remained in that position through Jul 1945 when he was made an instructor at the Torpedo School. In 1961, he divorsed Princess Hanako of Kanin due to Princess Hanako's infidelity.
