WW2DB's Seventh Anniversary

29 Dec 2011

Another year has passed, and I am happy to continue to report that both the content and the audience of WW2DB has grown since our last anniversary. From me, I want to thank both the visitors of the website, as well as the WW2DB contributor team that had always been willing to stand behind the curtain to help with their research, their writings, and their inspiration and support. Dave, Alan, Bryan, and all the others, thank you!

As usual, I will provide some statistics representing what you can find on the website after these six productive years; the numbers in parenthesis show the growth since one year ago on 29 Dec 2010.

Over at Facebook, WW2DB has 7,964 fans. Meanwhile, 1,562 Twitter followers keep up with the site.

I am very proud to announce that during the past year WW2DB has been recognized by the United States Library of Congress as a valuable online resource for history. The website has been filed under control number 2011214255 ID lcwaN0005634. I hope this website will not let the LOC down!

On a personal level, I am also proud to say that my name is now in print as a named contributor of my colleague's Refighting the Pacific War, which uses a counter-factual approach to analyze the Pacific War.

As we move into a new year, I hope WW2DB will continue to be a helpful and interesting partner for WW2 history enthusiasts. Thank you for all of your support once again, and wishing everyone a prosperous new year!

Peter,

Congratulations on your seventh anniversary. I LOVE this site and have been coming here daily for the past three-plus years. Keep up the GREAT work.

Sincerely,

Tom Adams

PS I received Refighting the Pacific War for Christmas and can't wait to get started on what I know will be a very thought provoking book.

Congratulations on starting your eight year. I for one am very grateful to have this site as a resource and to help to fortify our belief that WW II was the single most important event in the 20th century.

A very happy and successful New Year to you and the many people who share our interests in World War II.

Thank you for all you have put into this website. I too visit it daily, not only for the historical information it provides, but so I can get a feel for what my father might have experienced in the pacific theatre during WWII. You've provided something he was reluctant to talk about.
