I knew Joe during his days in Frankfurt Germany, where he worked for the U.S. Consulate. A reliable guy and good family man. Actually, I was dating his daughter. Also, if I had to make a list of the two nicest people I know, his wife Esther would be there (and probably on the TOP half of the list!!!). God bless her and all my best also to Joe's children: Jim, Jane, Harold and CARLA! Sincerely, Peter G.

Does someone know in what regiment he served? I have also a picture of him taken in our village Eygelshoven (NL - Europe), but there where several units here at that time..

This photo is taken in the little village Zweifall in the near of Stolberg by Aachen. In background the street left go deep into the Eifel montains to the village Roetgen and further Monschau and right to the little town Stolberg, about ten kilometers eastwards from Aachen.

When WWII ended. I was 9 years old. When I came to the US on 6 June 1954, 10yrs after D-Day, I immersed myself in the American culture and was 21 years in the service.
But now my war experience is bubbling up: carpet bombing, evacuation to East, Stravings by P-38s , occupation by foreign troops, scavenging, etc.

doing geneology research . . . we were related to a family named Bimmermann who lived in Aachen. Wondering, could it be, that you, Reiner are that lost branch?

I am Joe's youngest child, one of two surviving, the older two having passed away. To correct the caption, my Dad was mailing those packages. My sister has just been born six months before this photo. And yes, I dated Peter G in the sixties and early seventies.and have been trying to locate him. "Carla"
