Do not think this is an A model. Looks like it has a Merlin engine. "A" models used Allison engines.

P-51B-1-NA assigned to the 354th Fighter Group in England Dec. 1943. Note white ID stripes on wings, and on tail of early Mustangs. This version of the Mustang was mistaken for Bf-109s
