Famous WW2 Quote
"Goddam it, you'll never get the Purple Heart hiding in a foxhole! Follow me!"Captain Henry P. Jim Crowe, Guadalcanal, 13 Jan 1943

Dropping aerial torpedoes over the sides of PT Boats allowed the boats to remove the heavy torpedo tube launchers and replace that weight with additional gun and cannon mounts. When launching torpedoes with this method, the torpedo is not rolled off the skids but is slid off the rails so as to not tumble the gyros.
