My Dad was on Tinian and his good friend Captain John Townsend Coffman, Jr. was a B-29 pilot with the 500th stationed on Saipan.

RAIN OF DEATH: TORCH TO THE ENEMY

Formation of B-29s from the 500th Bomb Group the B-29 could carry 80 of the M-47A2 incendiary that weighed 100lbs each, or 55 of the M-19 incendiary
that weighed 220lbs each.
Another weapon was the M-69 incendiary cluster bomb the B-29 carried 40 such weapons these devices were very effective in starting deadly firestorms that destroyed Japanese cities and industrial centers.
