The Mitsubishi G3M(Nell)was developed during the 1930s, used as an attack bomber and transport by the Imperial Japanese Navy.
The prototype flew in 1935 and production started in 1936, designated Navy, Type 96 Attack Bomber, Model 11.

The transport version of the Nell, was the L3Y2, Model 22 and was called(Tina)by the Allies. Surviving bombers were assigned various second-line duties maritime patrol, training bombers, glider and target tugs.

After WWII all Japanese wartime aircraft were scrapped did you know, the destruction and scrapping of the Japanese Army and Navy continued into 1947.
Salvaged equipment not used for any military porpoise, were recycled for civilian use.

Armament:was 3x7.7mm machine guns later upgraded to 1x20mm cannon and 4x7.7mm machine guns, some crews even armed their bomber with 12.7mm machine guns, to give the Nell a heaver punch.
The G3M was crewed by seven and was able to carry 1xType 91 Torpedo, and 8x60kg Bombs

FLY THE UNFRIENDLY SKIES:

Before and during WWII Dai Nippon KuKu K.K.
Greater Japan Airlines, used converted Mitsubishi G3M(Nell)bombers, its transport cousin the Mitsubishi L3Y2(Tina) and other foreign transports for its air routes in Asia.

FLYING BOATS:

Kawanishi H6K(Mavis)and Kawanishi(H8K)Emily flying boats were used to connect the Empire with its island positions in the Pacfic.
As the war progressed US Naval and Airpower
made attacks against Japanese island bases this made connections dangerous, aircraft were lost to Weather, Mechanical Problems or Allied fighters.
