Mitsubishi Ki-21 "Sally" Bomber photograph taken September 1940. Aircraft dropping its bombs over
Chongqing, China. What does the KI,stand for Kiai...(Airframe).
The Ki-21 "Sally" was the primary IJAAF bomber used during the Pacific War like most Japanese a/c
the Sally lacked armor protection for its crew and fuel tanks. Later in the war, the Ki-21 was
also used in "Special Attack Kamikaze Missions"
NAME CHANGE: WHAT ABOUT SALLY?
Did you know the Ki-21 was assigned the code name
Jane, but General MacArther didn't like it that a Japanese a/c was named after his wife, so it was changed to "Sally"
